Jane Ross

Jane Ross is an educator with over 40 years’ experience in the field of international education, including a long career at the Lycée Français de New York She is the founder and President of the Advisory Board of the French Heritage Language Program, and has served on the board of directors of a number of educational institutions with particular focus on international outreach and on the arts, including the American University of Paris, , Pianofest, the Safina Institute and the Deans Council of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Studies of Stony Brook University. She holds a BA from Swarthmore College, an MA from Hunter College CUNY and a PhD in International Education from New York University’s Steinhardt School. In 2008 she was awarded the honor of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French government for her service to French education, and in 2016 she received the prestigious Legion of Honor.
She is the author of Two Centuries of French Education in New York, a book that grew out of her doctoral research, and is also co-author of a number of several scholarly papers and book chapters concerning the development of French Heritage Language programs, bilingual and dual language initiatives.
As one of the “Pioneers” of the OIB program at the Lycée Français de New York, Jane is delighted to be part of AAMiS .
